IRRADIATION TESTS OF SELECTED TRANSDUCERS

Abstract

A number of instrumentation transducers were irradiated for finding commercially available transducers that can be used in a radiation environment. The tests were made at ambient temperature and humidity conditions. The pickups were exercised during irradiation to simulate operating conditions. The pickups tested included differential transformers; fluid-dampedAND MAGNETIC-DAMPED VELOCITY PICKUPS; STRAIN GAGES; PIEZOELECTRIC ACCELEROMETERS; BULK RESISTANCE THERMOMETERS; AND INDUCTIVE, STRAINGAGE, AND POTENTIOMETER PRESSURE PICKUPS. Potentiometer pressure pickups, magnetic-damped velocity pickups, and piezoelectric accelerometers operated satisfactorily in the radiation environment. (Author)
