RADIATION IN A PLASMA. I. CERENKOV EFFECT

Abstract

A linear continuum theory of radiation in a plasma is developed and applied to several situations. The main departure from usual practice is the addition of source terms to the basic equations. The source so represented is arbitrarily set by an external agent. The source generates the disturbances in the plasma but is itself unchanged by the reaction of the fields. (Author)
