DIFFRACTION OF AN EVANESCENT WAVE BY A METAL-STRIP GRATING. EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS

Abstract

Experiments are described which were concerned with the diffraction of an evanescent TM wave by a metal-strip grating. The evanescent wave was obtained by means of a dielectric-slab launcher. Several gratings with different values of spacing, width, inclination of the strips were employed. As a result, it was possible to select the grating which gives rise to a diffracted plane wave of the highest possible intensity in the range of the parameters employed. (Author)
