Tunnel Diode Circuits at Microwave Frequencies

Abstract

Results are presented of recent studies in tunnel diode microwave circuits at the Electronic Defense Laboratories. Descriptions are also offered of an S-band low-noise amplifier with voltage gain bandwidth product of 6000 mc and of designs of mechanically tunable down converters. The prime features of the tunnel diode, its small size and low dc power requirements, are taken advantage of in the circuit designs.
