EFFECT OF FINITE OXYGEN RECOMBINATION RATE ON THE FLOW CONDITIONS IN HYPERSONIC NOZZLES

Abstract

The effect is estimated using for air a simplified model gas consisting only of O, O2, and N2. For the range of supply conditions considered, the gas composition freezes during expansion with the oxygen atom concentration depending strongly on supply conditions, less significantly on the nozzle geometry. The fractional departure of the flow parameters from equilibrium valves then depends on a good approximation only on the oxygen atom concentration. (Author)
