ON THE ANNULAR DAMPER FOR A FREELY PRECESSING GYROSCOPE-II

Abstract

A previous analysis of the annual damper was based on the hypothesis that the motion at any instant could be regarded as quasi-steady. This analysis is revised by accounting for all accelerations. The decay times are found to be substantially greater (damping less) than those predicted in the previous analysis. (Author)
