RESEARCH ON THERMAL CONVECTION IN ROTATING FLUIDS

Abstract

This report summarizes progress made with two investigations of thermal convection in a rotating liquid contained between concentric cylinders. In the first, careful measurements of the heat transfer coefficient at different rates of rotation were made and striking results obtained. In the second, an extension of earlier work on instabilities and other properties of the wave regime, is being carried out. (Author)
