PAYLOAD VIBRATION DATA MEASURED DURING FIVE FLIGHTS OF A TWO-STAGE SOLID-PROPELLANT LAUNCH VEHICLE

Abstract

F LIGHT VIBRATION DATA W R OB AINED FROM FIVE VERTICAL ES SHOTS OF Shotput, the lau ch vehicle for v r ical t ts of t e 100-foot infl tabl sp er . T e t o-st ge vehicle consisted of a Pollux an two Recruit rocket motor as the first stage and an ABL X-248 rocket motor as e seco stage. High vibr tion levels w re obtained near bur out of the secon stag of Shotput I, II, and V, hereas only low vibration level were noted on Shotput III and IV. The peak flight vibration levels on Shotput I, II, and V occurred in the longitudinal direction at a frequency of about 570 cps and were about 40g, 45g, and 24g, respectively. The flight vibration levels in t normal and ransverse dir ctions were cons erably le than those in t e longitu inal direction. (Author)
