SYNTHESIS OF ELASTOMERS CONTAINING SI-N BONDS IN THE MAIN CHAIN

Abstract

A series of new organosilazane monomers was prepared and characterized. These new monomers include the ammonia, methylamine, and aniline derivatives of 1,3-bis(chlorodimethylsilyl)-2, 2-dimethyl-1,3 diaza-2-silacyclohexane and 1,3-bis(chlorodimethylsilyl)2,2-dimethyl-1,3diaza-2-silacyclopentane, and the methylamine derivative of 1,3-bis(chloromethylphenylsilyl)2-methyl-2-phenyl-1,3-diaza-2-silacyclohexane. It was demonstrated that these monomers polymerize in a linear manner with the elimination of the elements of ammonia or amine to yield polymers with Si and N in the main chain. This conclusion was based on elemental analyses, infrared spectra, and the molecular weight of experimental polymers. (Author)
