EVALUATION OF LOW DENSITY, HIGH TEMPERATURE (TO 2000 F) THERMAL INSULATION

Abstract

Materials are evaluated which are considered suitable as insulation for space capsules in the temperature range of -65 degrees F to 2000 degrees F. Data presented show relative advantages of fibrous type insulations over rigid forms. Modification of guarded hot plate for altitude capability resulted in data establishing variation in thermal conductivity with temperature. (Author-PL).
