ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES IN LONGITUDINALLY MAGNETIZED FERRITES BETWEEN TWO CONDUCTING PARALLEL PLANES

Abstract

The electromagnetic waves propagating in longitudinally magnetized homogeneous ferrites, between two perfectly conducting parallel planes, were investigated, by using the operational calculus method. The solution separates into two sets of independent hybrid modes of even symmetry and odd symmetry. Two independent transcendental equations for the propagation constant were found and the field components were evaluated. For the isotropic case, the hybrid-mode solution degenerates to the TE and TM waves of the corresponding symmetry. Results are in agreement with the ones found previously by Suhl and Walker (Phys. Rev., 86:122-123,1952) and by Epstein (Rev. of Mod. Phys. 28.1:3-17, 1956), using a different method. (Author)
