Electronic Scanning of Circular Antenna Arrays

Abstract

This report describes an antenna array which consists of concentric rings of monopoles. In each ring all of the elements are fed from two amplifiers, the output of which is controlled by a steady or slowly varying voltage. The antenna forms a directional beam, and the pointing of this beam is determined by the control voltages. The pointing can be continuously varied through 360 without significantly changing the shape oi the pattern.
