THE TUNNEL DIODE AS A PREAMPLIFIER FOR VHF AM-FM RADIO RECEIVER IN SONOBUOYS

Abstract

A study was made to determine the feasibility of using a tunnel diode as a preamplifier for a sonobuoy VHF AM-FM receiver. The results showed that the tunnel diode can be used as a stable amplifier in the sonobuoy frequency range if care is taken in the choice and placement of components and their wiring in the circuit.
