AN INSTRUMENT FOR THE MEASUREMENT OF THE VOLUME ABSORPTION COEFFICIENT OF HORIZONTALLY STRATIFIED WATER

Abstract

The discussion of the problem of developing instrumentation for the determination of the absorption coefficient is divided into three parts: (1) the development of a suitable probe for simultaneously measuring and reporting the quantities required for the determination of the ABSORPTION COEFFICIENT, (2) the selection or development of photoelectric transducers with optical coupling which will produce signals proportional to the required optical quantities, and (3) the selection or development of methods for recording and processing the data to obtain the volume absorption coefficient.
