ULTRASONIC WELDING OF REFRACTORY METALS

Abstract

The reproducibility of weld strength values for 0.005- and 0.010-inch Mo-0.5Ti as well as the quality of these bonds were evaluated. In one case, the effect of foil interleaf was investigated. Limited shear-strength studies were made with 0.005-inch Nb. The feasibility of using ultrasonics to determine weld integrity is being explored.
