FACTORS IN IN-BASKET PERFORMANCE

Abstract

The nature of administrative behavior and some of the major dimensions of administrative performance are studied. The procedures involved are (1) the development of in-basket materials, (2) the development of methods for scoring records of performance in the simulated job, and (3) the analysis of the intercorrelations of these scores, by factoring, as a means for revealing whatever major dimensions of behavior may exist in the data. Subjects in the present study included members from a variety of groups; comparisons of these groups with respect to in asket scores are of interest from the standpoint of construct validity. A further stage of the study will be concerned with the relationships of dimensions of administrative performance to various other measures of abilities and personality. (Author)
