RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ON ADVANCED GRAPHITE MATERIALS. VOLUME IV. ADAPTATION OF RADIOGRAPHIC PRINCIPLES TO THE QUALITY CONTROL OF GRAPHITE

Abstract

Special equipment and techniques were developed for the radiographic inspection of large size graphite shapes, as well as for complex multithickness shapes. Because of the low atomic number of the element C, techniques were used which discriminated between the trnsmitted and scattered radiation. Various methods are described which have been used for nondestructively testing graphite and exposure charts relaying exposure time to graphite thickness for various source voltages were prepared.
