METALLURGICAL AND MECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF HIGH-PURITY TITANIUM-BASE ALLOYS

Abstract

The relationships between mechanical properties, alloy composition, microstructure, and thermal history were studied for high-purity Ti-baseALLOYS. The alloy systems investigated include Ti-Al, Ti-Zr, Ti-Hf, Ti-Al-Zr, Ti-Al-Hf, Ti-AlCb, Ti-Cb, Ti-W, Ti-V-Cr, and Ti-V-Cr-Al. Mechanical-property data, including tensile and flow properties, impact behavior, hardness, aging, and cooling-rate data were determined. The metallurgical principles involved are discussed.
