RESEARCH IN HYBRID COMBUSTION

Abstract

The combustion processes of polymethylmethacrylate and gaseous O were investigated. Assuming a flame front was established at the edge of the laminar boundary layer in laminar flow and at the edge of the buffer layer in turbulent flow, the experimentally determined burning rates were satisfactorily interpreted. A simplified theory of hybrid combustion was developed. The mass burning rates determined for a 30% Al in plexiglass fuel at two O flows were compared with the regression rates of the pure plexiglass fuel. (Author)
