THEORETICAL STUDY OF THE ELECTROHYDRODYNAMIC GENERATOR

Abstract

A theoretical study of an electrical power generator based upon the principle of the Van de Graff generator is presented, the primary difference being that the charge is transported in a moving gas rather than on a moving belt. The analysis considers the electrical and thermal properties of such a generator by the solution of the onedimensional, inviscid, constant flow equations for an ionized gas coupled to Maxwell's equations.
