HIGH POWER CIRCULATOR DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

An investigation was made of techniques for the construction of very high power circulators, based on a novel concept which provides for a magnetic element located in an auxiliary waveguide, subjected to much lower power levels. Further advances are described in the development of a high power fourport coupled waveguide circulator operating over a 10% bandwidth at 3000 mc. A more exacting evaluation of the parameters of the ferrite material was made, and a resolution was obtained of earlier incompatibility of theoretical and experimental results. Higher mode deterioration of circulator performance was significantly lessened through modification of geometric parameters relating to slab height, width and wall spacing. (Author)
