THE USRL BROADBAND HYDROPHONE TYPE H17

Abstract

The USRL type H17 hydrophone was designed to operate in the frequency range 20 C to 150 kc, but it can be used to 250 kc. It is omnidirectional within !1.0 db at frequencies below 50 kc in the horizontal (XY) plane; it is bidirectional in the same plane at the 0-degree and 180-degree orientations within !2.0 db in the frequency range 20 C to 150 kc. The sensitivity (-94 db re one volt per microbar) is little affected by temperature changes in the range from 5 to 35 deg C or by hydrostatic pressure changes up to 1000 psig. (Author)
