RE-ENTRY PHYSICS RESEARCH. ARMY ROCKET AND GUIDED MISSILE AGENCY

Abstract

Theoretical and experimental laboratory investigations related to ICBM phenomenology were conducted in three main areas: equilibrium thermodynamic properties of high temperature air with additives, shock tube chemical kinetics studies of air with additives, and microwave and optical investigations of the wakes of hypervelocity projec iles at the Ames Research Center. A program outline is included to indicate the inter-relation of the individual research studies, and to relate these studies to particular observables of field measurement programs. Details of current progress in the individual areas of research are discussed. (Author)
