THE MICROWAVE SPECTRUM, STRUCTURE, AND DIPOLE MOMENT OF F20

Abstract

A study was made of the rotational spectrum of F2O. A total of 17 rotational transitions were measured in the region 13 to 60 kmc with Stark modul te spectrometers. HIRTEE OF THE R SITION R GING IN J from one to nine were assigned. The observed and calculated frequencies for the assigned transition are listed. Rotational constants, moments of inertia, the inertial def ct, and structural parameters of F2O are presented. A dipole moment of 0.297 ! 0.005 D was obtained. The inertial defect for F2O was calculated to fall in the range 0.115 to 0.175 amu A to the 2nd power. Calculation of the 4 quadra ic force constants was made using the inertial defec plus the 3 fundamental vibr tional fr quencies.
