RESISTORS, VARIABLE (FILM TYPE)

Abstract

Pre-production tests and subsequent results obtained with unhoused resistor elements show that moisture resistance can be improved with a thin film coating or a slight revision in termination material. Moisture failures appear to be greatly reduced by running the test without housings; indicating that moisture entrapment in the housings was a major hindrance to good performance. An improved method of applying the silver shorting path for C tapers, which involves spraying through a mask in place of the silk screening, was developed.
