PROBABILISTIC INDEXING. A STATISTICAL TECHNIQUE FOR DOCUMENT IDENTIFICATION AND RETRIEVAL

Abstract

This report describes recent experiments that were made to evaluate the retrieval effectiveness of a new method of literature indexing and searching entitled Probabilistic Indexing. In addition several refinements and extensions of the basic notions of Probabilistic Indexing are presented.
