ON THE PROBLEM OF ANTENNA BEAM BROADENING DUE TO ATMOSPHERIC TURBULENCE

Abstract

IN THIS ANALYSIS, RANDOM FLUCTUATIONS OF BOTH AMPLITUDE AND PHASE ARE CONSIDERED AND FORMULAS FOR THE MEAN SQUARE BROADENING ARE DEVELOPED UNDER THESE CONDITIONS, THE GEOMETRICAL OPTICS APPROXIMATION BEING USED. Both one and twodimensional antennas are studied and a criterion for resolution capabilities is established. (Author)
