ATMOSPHERIC MEASUREMENTS FROM SATELLITE OBSERVATIONS OF STELLAR REFRACTION

Abstract

A method of obtaining atmospheric density, temperature and pressure data by observing refraction of stellar images with instruments in a satellite is described. Data acquisition and altitude range is such as to permit making of weather maps between 25 mb and perhaps 500 mb. (Author)
