MOLYBDENUM SHEET ROLLING PROGRAM

Abstract

Mo+0.5%Ti alloy sheet was produced from hot forged sheet bar by a total of 81 practice variations. These practices ranged from 25 to 96% cold work with rolling temperatures from 1000 to 3000 F. Each practice was evaluated, resulting in a recommended practice for the production of sheet with improved properties. All sheet rolling in the Phase I development of consolidation and primary fabrication practices for TZM alloy was completed. About 9000 lb of Mo+0.5%Ti alloy for sheet production was melted and extruded. Hot forging to sheet bar is in progress. (Author
