HEAT TRANSFER IN OSCILLATING FLOW

Abstract

The purpose of this investigation of heat transfer in oscillating flow is to locate the primary dependencies of the hea transfer and gain some knowledge of the relationships involved. Through the use of a traversing heater section, it is possible to determine the heat transferAND VELOCI Y PROFILE OVER AT LEAST A QUARTER WAVE LENGTH FOR THE SEVENTH LONGITUDINAL HARMONIC AND ALL HIGHER RESONANT FREQUENCIES. The high amplitude of he pressure aves induc d in th duc under r son n conditions produce co siderable varia io from the imple sinusoidal ype standing wave patter used in organ pipe analysi . The w ves re o lin r an strong. Travelling shocks exist throughout the duct except at the exit. The result is that the internal flow is quite complex, and it is not possible to isolate the effects of the different variables as in the acoustic case. (Author)
