PHOTOGENERATOR POWER CONVERSION STUDY

Abstract

Ways and means of constructing developmental models of a close-spaced, thin, solar power converter using the photoemissive principle were investigated. The report discusses the merits of several designs; the equipment and techniquesAVAILABLE TO FABRICATE, PROCESS AND TEST THESE DEVICES; AND ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS. In particular, the criticalness of the in-vacuum sealing is treated and a sealing fixture, wherein different sealing methods may be tested reproducibly, is described. A demountable process tube is described and compared with the WX-4220, an early process control tube. Chemical processing and vacuum processing techniques and problems are discussed. Using these processes, several component parts for the design were constructed. (Author)
