FEASIBILITY OF APPLYING THE LINEAR CLASS C POWER AMPLIFIER TO SINGLE SIDEBAND RADIO

Abstract

A breadboard model of a linear, class C, power amplifier was fabricated and tested, and its operation was analyzed to determine its possible application to Navy single-sideband communication systems. A tube was used in the circuit with a clamp tube connected from screen to ground. The results of the investigation indicated that the particular amplifier operated in the class B rather than the class C mode, an d was not suitable for Navy application.
