COMMUNICATIONS DATA FOR TANK BATTALIONS, FORT STEWART, GA

Abstract

The analysis was conducted to determine the minimum or critical communications requirements for a future field army. Work centered around the war games of the Intelligence Division Gaming Operation (INDIGO). The radio communications necessary for the effective operation of the battalions were transcribed in detail. These transcriptions yielded link, message function, and messages-per-conversation data. The monitoring of the battalion command nets yielded approximately 15 hr of recorded traffic for the first exercise, 36.5 hr for the second, and 35.5 hr for the third.
