PERFORMANCE OPTIMIZATION OF MULTI-COMPONENT PROPELLANT MIXTURES. VOLUME I. MATHEMATICAL PROCEDURES AND PROGRAMMING

Abstract

A computer program is described which can directly determine the composition which yields maximum impulse for multicomponent propellant mixtures. The method has been coded for IBM 709 and 7090 computers and has been demonstrated for systems containing up to four components. The mathematics was determined so that the technique is applicable to systems containing up to ten components but, thus far, it has only been applied to systems containing two to five components. The computation proceeds directly to the optimum point; consequently, an economy of machine time over conventional procedures is realized. The program can be used in conjunction with any accurate performance computational program.
