THE PERCEPTRON AS AN ADAPTIVE CLASSIFICATION DEVICE

Abstract

Identifer : Perceptron, IBM 704. Under certain conditions an adaptive data system can be built t determine a solution to the data classification problem, based on samples of input data along with their proper classification. The perceptron and the simpler half-perceptron are machine of this sort, and their principles of operation and simulation on an ibm 704 computer are discussed. Sample problems exhibit the capabilities and limitation of each. The possible role of these machines in sonar target classification is also discussed.
