DEVELOPMENT OF A STANDARD COMMUNICATION RATING SYSTEM

Abstract

Efforts were devoted toward developing a standard rating system useful for comparison and evaluation of communication systems. Such a rating system model was formulated; and the mathematical development supporting the feasibility is given. The logical steps of establishing requirements, philosophy, and model framework for a rating system are developed and supported on a theoretical bases. Propagation modes used are examined to determine that they fit within the mathematical requirements. Finally a means of processing and presenting the ratings for comparison and evaluation is devised. The rating system evolved has few limitations, is quite flexible and easily used, and is applicable to a wide range of pointto-point communication problems. (Author)
