A SYNCHRONOUS DETECTOR

Abstract

A synchronous detector has been developed which performs 2 functions: (1) It operates as a phase sensitive demodulator providing a dc signal proportional to the component of an ac signal in phase with a reference voltage; and (2) it behaves as a bandpass filter always centered at the driving frequency. A circuit schematic is given for the detector, and its operation is described. Performance, experimentally determined, is compared with a theory derived for the detector. (Author)
