Abstract

The stability of a plane vortex eet, between two uniform streams of dissociating gases, with respect to small disturbances is examined on the basis of a linearized theory. The effects of equilibrium dissociation are destabilizing to the vortex sheet flow. In a nonequilibrium flow, the vortex sheet is shown to be always unstable. (Author)
