SCATTERING OF ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES BY ULTRASONIC BEAMS

Abstract

The results of laboratory investigations on sonic generators are reviewed. Field experiments to determine the feasibility of scattering electromagnetic waves by means of ultrasonic beams are described along with a brief presentation of the characteristics of the radio communications equipment used in the field evaluation program. The field experiments were conducted over an open range of 154 feet. No positive results were obtained. In view of the limitations imposed on the experiment by both the sonic and radio equipments, these results cannot be considered absolutely definitive. (Author)
