A MICROWAVE REFRACTOMETER WITH FAST RESPONSE AND ABSOLUTE DIGITAL RECORDING,

Abstract

A digital, fast-responding metering and recording system for an airborne microwave refractometer is described. Included is a brief description of the analog functioning of the instrument before modification, along with an explanation of the deficiencies which led to development of the digital system. The digital logic and readout circuitry are described in some detail. The modified instrument will maintain long-term calibration of such accuracy that it is considered to be an absolute measuring and recording device. The new system is capable of step response for any portion of full scale in 10 milliseconds. (Author)
