AN INVESTIGATION OF THE MICROWAVE PROPERTIES OF DIAMOND

Abstract

An X-ba d resonant cavity apparatus was built and applied to the study of the microwave dielectric prop rtie of na urally occurring diamond crystals. The microwave dielectric constant of several insulating diamonds was measured nd foun to be only slightly hig er t an the optical v lue. The resistivity of a semiconducting iamond was deduced from microwave measuremen s. The activation energy obtain d from t e t mper ture dependence of the microwave losses is in goo agreeme t i r por r sults from c techniques. (Author)
