RESEARCH INVESTIGATION OF P-I-N ELECTRON JUNCTION DETECTORS

Abstract

The dosimetric properties of the p-i-n junction radiation detector were examined from the point of view of determining their usefulness when operated in a current generating mode in medium dose rate electromagnetic radiation fields. The dose rates utilized varied from approximately 2 to 100 r/min. Reproducibility was established when the detectors were used in this mode if only the change in dark current rather than the total current was considered. Wavelength dependence was approximately that which would be expected from theoretical considerations. The data show a definite requirement for studies to find methods which will flatten this dependence. (Author)
