A STUDY OF THE NEAR FIELD BEHIND A PARABOLIC ANTENNA

Abstract

The near-field behind a p rabolic antenna is nalyzed using the geometrical theory of diffraction. Equations are developed to calculate t e fi ld behind an ant nna of arbi rary size, focal length and aperture field distribution. These equations are then applied to a particular antenna. The results are then compared with the measured field; it is found that there is a good AGR EM N AT ANGL S UP TO 70 DEGREES FROM THE AXIS OF SYMM TRY. ( UT OR
