DEUTERON WIDTHS IN 1P-SHELL NUCLEI

Abstract

An estimate of the deuteron widths in 1p-shell nuclei has been made using harmonic oscillator wave-functions for the single nucleon wave functions. The results show that large deuteron widths in light nuclei is not in contradiction to the predictions of the shell model. It is also shown that such large deuteron widths are a direct consequence of the large size of the deuteron. (Author)
