SNAPPING PHENOMENA OF ELASTO-PLASTIC CURVED BEAMS UNDER STATIC AND DYNAMIC LOADINGS

Abstract

The snap-buckling problems for an elasto-plastic curved beam under laterally applied static and dynamic loads are investigated. By neglecting the transverse shear and strain-rate effects, the governing equations for various phases of motion are formulated for a simplified model. Elasto-perfectly-plastic materials are considered. Numerical results of the analytic solutions are given in the form of load-deflection relations and phase trajectories for several typical cases.
