DEVELOPMENT OF A HIGH FREQUENCY ELECTRON-BEAM PARAMETRIC AMPLIFIER

Abstract

The tube for measurements of beam noise temperature has been completed and measurements made of circuit impedance, phase velocity of fast cyclotron wave and beam noise temperature. The circuit impedance calculated from Kompfner-dip measurements is 23.5% lower than the value obtained by electric field perturbation methods. Both impedance and phase velocity exhibit remarkably low dispersion. Noise temperature of the fast cyclotron wave at 2.95 gc with a cyclotron frequency of 945 mc was 3560 K. (Author)
