SUPERHEATER EVALUATION STUDIES FOR DD931/DD945 CLASS BABCOCK AND WILCOX BOILERS

Abstract

Three ships of the DD931 class experienced tube failures in the superheater third pass. All failures occurred in the same tube row and all boilers inspected revealed similar patterns of fireside corrosion, wall thinning and overheating.
