A Preliminary Investigation and Analysis of the Role of Scientists in Research Organizations
Abstract
The general objective of this research is to analyze systematically interrelationships among (1) organizational requirements for participation of scientists at different organizational levels and in different types of organizations; (2) orientations toward work and careers amongscientists employed in various organizational contexts; and (3) incentive mechanisms available for relating individual orientations to organizational requirements. This report describes the findings of exploratory studies constituting Phase I of this research.
