HEAT CAPACITY OF AMORPHOUS POLYMERS AT LOW TEMPERATURES

Abstract

Published heat capacity data on polystyrene and polymethyl methacrylate were analyzed by the method of Starkweather. The results of the analysis indicate that the model proposed by Stockmayer and Hecht for the thermal motions of crystalline polymers at low temperatures can be applied to amorphous polymers.
