A NEW VIEW OF THE FAILURE IN LIPOGENESIS INDUCED BY FASTING

Abstract

Evidence presented indicates that a lipogenic inhibitor is produced by the cytoplasmic particles in response to fasting and the main site of production is probably the microsomes. The conclusion is drawn that this inhibitory substance is one of the major factors responsible for the very low rate of hepatic lipogenesis in fasted rats. (Author)
